GD: Torsa Saha

Hi everyone!

Another post full of fabulous inspiration for you! This time it is brought to you by the lovely Torsa Saha. Please take a moment and check out her wonderful work below...

I have started with Mixed Media just six months back. Though I have worked in fine arts (mainly with oil painting and acrylic) for almost 20 years .
By profession I am a software engineer but Art is something I always breathe for . I live in USA with my 7 years old daughter and Husband.

Today I have created a project on Journey !! I believe that "Life is a journey , not a destination " !! My project is inspired by this quote only !! In the starting of 2017 I want to enjoy each and every moment of my life !!

I have used music notes pages to cover the background then made some texture sand !! I have used my favorite Lindy's spray mist and Lindy's embossing powder !!
Hope you would like it !!

Supply list:
Gesso,Heavy gesso, Sand, straw , Lindy's spray and embossing powder , 2Crafty Chipboards.

How cool is this artwork! Everything used just works so well together... the colours, the guitar with the music sheet on the background... well thought through! Fabulous!

Please leave a comment below for Torsa and don't forget to visit her blog

Thank you, Torsa, for sharing your wonderful art with us!

All the best,

Changes to MMW challenges & DT CALL!

Hi Everyone!

We have a busy year ahead and would like to start with putting a team of talented mixed media enthusiasts and artist together before we well and truly get cracking with our 2017 challenges.

We had a different theme each month and had plenty of entries to choose from. The entries are always fantastic and we have such a hard time picking our winner and our FAB 3! Even if we don't get to comment on your entries please know that they are not missed and your art is checked out. I don't insist that my team spends their time commenting on each entry. I encourage it. I think it is lovely to receive a comment, but we are all very busy and not always get to leave comments on a number of entries. So I try not to be too hard on the team, but can promise we will try our best to be in touch! I'd like to thank you for sharing your art with us last year and look forward to seeing more this year!

CHANGES for 2017

We are making a few changes to the way our challenges are ran. In a good way! We would like to encourage the freedom of expression as this is everything our challenge blog stands for. We would like you to stop worrying about this theme or that theme and if you can do it or not. That's it! NO MORE THEMES! :)

As off 2017, you can create anything you like for our monthly challenge. Some months, there might be, say, 'Anything Goes with a twist'. A twist could be a mood board or similar to make it more fun. Some twists will be optional so pay attention. However, what we ask is that you come and show us what you created when you were in a mood for some crafty adventure, come and show us your latest alteration or a canvas, a mixed media card or a tag. It doesn't matter! There is nothing worse than not wanting to enter a challenge, because you don't 'feel you can go with the theme' or 'don't have this or that product'.

The same goes for our team... there are no limits to what the team will create. I'm pretty sure the team can create some serious magic when doing what they love without any limitations. I personally cannot wait and am super-excited to see what this year brings in terms of the shared art!

What do you think? Do you like the idea? Please leave a comment below to share your thoughts or to say hi! It's always lovely to hear from you!

As the title suggest there are more than the above changes to our blog. There will be changes to the team as well. Our dear Lane had decided to move on and live the life she dreams of. I would like to thank Lane from the bottom of my heart, for being by my side for this long and for being a lovely friend. It's been a heck of a journey!

Also, Janka has decided to move on as life is getting busy and all. We have seen some amazing inspirational art here from Janka and she will be missed!!

And of course, to start afresh, we would like to invite some new talent to our team! I wonder who would be interested to join the fun! What we are looking for in a design team member...

- talent and knack for mixed media art & craft (no matter how long you've been blogging or how many followers you have. Don't worry! If you have what it takes then apply!)
- enthusiasm to create for and represent the MMW challenges
- someone who regularly shares their art via their blog and social media
- if you share your work via YouTube it is a very welcomed bonus, but not a condition
- someone who is willing to create 2 projects a month (1x challenge, 1x tutorial)
- someone with a friendly and happy soul
- someone who has enough time to visit participant's blogs to check out entries and ideally comment
- someone who will be committed for at least 6 months

I think the above are the most important factors. If you feel this is something you would like to take on, please email me with MMW DT CALL in subject line with 3 of your favourite mixed media works and a little bit about yourself to:

ingridscraftscorner @ hotmail. co. uk (please adjust the email address to its correct format when sending your email. I write it in this way so that I don't get spammed. Thank you!)

I shall look forward to hearing from you in the comments below about your thoughts on the changes for 2017 and also your emails with your DT applications!

All the best and stay creative!

Happy New Year! + GD: Kerstin Peters

Hello and Happy New Year to you all!!

I hope you enjoyed the festivities of 2016 to the full and had time to reflect on the happenings of the last year.

Today would be our new challenge, but we are taking a break for this month and possibly the next. We work hard all year and decided to take a bit of time off. However, we couldn't possibly leave you completely  so we're going to share some Inspiration from our Guest Designers instead. There will be antoher couple of special posts for you before we well and truly get cracking with challenges again so stay tuned!

Today we are delighted to have a wonderful and talented lady with us sharing her wonderful art. We hosted a challenge 'Mail Art' a couple of months ago and Kerstin very kindly agreed to create something for us. Here is a little bit about Kerstin and what she came up with...

I have been creating for many years now, always in search of new techniques and yet unexplored territory, because I love to try out, products and ideas and share inspirations, because it's always an adventure, a discovery tour, which I like to take my friends and all the other crafty people with me.

My favourites are colours and textures with a view to the small things, details and a big faible for 3D projects or elements.

With Scrapbooking, Home decoration, Art Journaling in combination with Mixed Media Style I have found 'my' perfect favourite genres .

My creations are always a little bit magical, romantic, sometimes funny, but always made with heart and mind.

" Mail Art"

Oh wow my first project in this style,a new experiment, but I really love to try out. I decided to make a project in vintage style with a lot of stamps, stencils, washi tape, sticker and some spray mists.

....word stamp was embossed with black embossing powder.

I hope you like my first experiment in this art. It has been a joy!

Hopefully you will now feel even more inspired to create your own Mail Art project. I really enjoyed working on mine, using these vintage colours that I love!!!

Huge thanks to Ingrid Kristina and the Design Team for inviting me to be their guest this month. If you would like to know more about my creative world just pop over to my blog at: Scrapbook Dreams. I would love to see you there!
Many thanks for stopping by!
Happy crafting!

Isn't it wonderful?!!! Please feel free to leave a comment for Kerstin below and don't forget to visit her blog too! It is packed with mixed media goodness! :)

Thank you for joining us, Kerstin! You're one heck of an artist!

All the best to you all!

I hope you will stay with us and join more challenges in 2017. Which brings me onto a new subject.

MMW#20: Mail Art

Hi everyone!

I hope you are well! Thank you for stopping by today and many thanks for sharing your art with us. We're here to announce the start of our new challenge. This time we want you to join us creating Mail Art.

You will see from the DT inspiration that we all interpreted the theme a little bit differently and that's good! Wouldn't be boring if all worked the same way? In general, you might be familiar with Mail Art, but if you don't know what it is when you decorate an envelope or packaging to send to your family or friend. You can doodle, draw, colour-in, glue on embellishments etc... and as we are a mixed media challenge blog we would like to see mixed media looking projects.

So here are our makes for the challenge. I hope you like what you see and will feel inspired to try to create your own Mail Art...

Georgie has taken the fun approach and had fun doodling...

I decided to play with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and to create some fun textures on a brown cardboard A4 envelope. The flower is a napkin tissue adhered to a gessoed background.

Milujem art-journaling! Možnosť prenášať emócie na papier je v mojom živote dôležitá. Pri tvorení na novembrovú tému som sa preto nechala viesť predovšetkým myšlienkami a pocitmi. Takto to dopadlo:

I love art journaling and it is important for me to express my feelings on a paper. I let myself being carried away when creating for the November theme and this is what the result is:

Ahandbag with file folders for somebody who love to travel. File folders for passport, photos, sketches etc. I made also a tiny mini album 3 x 4 cm for notes and origami credit card holder.
That's all you need and you have everything in same place. Enjoy your flight!

I've created an art journal layout where I tried to embrace the feminine look of the Eiffel tower with masculine colours, shapes and stamps. It was an additional challenge I set up for myself and had fun completing it.

I am a real fan of Pringles chips, this way I have many empty cans in my scraproom, because I really like decorating them. This was a perfect choice for the base of my mail art project. It reminds me of the old post boxes and vintage time capsules. You can hide any secret messages inside the can. I would be very happy if someone suprise me with a love letter in this kind of packaging. Would you? :)
For the first step I covered the can with 3 layers of white gesso, what followed some violet mist, crackling paste and stencil patters made with modelling paste. After that I started to decorate with different kind of papers that are connected to mailing and post. For the final step I used mica flakes as an embellishment and purple stamps in different pattern.

We all look forward to seeing your makes! I will be back to announce the winner of our last challenge soon so stay tuned. Also, just so you know a new challenge will always go live at 8pm on a 2nd Sunday or a month. 2pm was just a bit too early when you all want to spend time with the family or have a siesta after your Sunday roast :)

I do hope that you can join this challenge and give yourself a chance to win £20 voucher from our sponsor That's Crafty!

Good luck to you all!

Big hugs

Ingrid xxx
